It's time again for the next Share What You Don't Wear Party - the clothes swap party of the season.

when: thursday 12th March

where: Butterfly Studio, 8 Bree Street, Cape Town

time: 5:30 for 6pm

cost: R80

Bring 5 or more items of clothing, shoes, bags or accessories to swap for "new" items.

We will also be accepting kids clothes and toys as well as old clothing on behalf of the Zimbabwean refugees.

It is wise never to miss a Marion and Lindie sale. I bought a gorgeous brown tweed jacket at the Sandton store for just R200 now 5 years ago and it's still one of my most cherished items.

I have just been through to check out the current sale, and there are some bargains to be had. Floor length silk dress in granny print for R900 was R1800, ruffled skirts that were R800 now R400 and crisp shirts for R325. But you have to have look about and you maybe able to get yourself a real find, like the checked shorts I found down from R700 to just R100!

For more a more feminine look black lace is coming through as a huge trend once again, proving how timeless it is. Charlize is wearing a stunning LBD by Prada. The asymmetrical dress is favourite choice for celebs strutting up the red carpet.

A big thank you to all you who made SAMPLE's first SHARE WHAT YOU DON'T WEAR PARTY, it was a big success. Everyone made a great swap, especially Tammy Randle who made off with a gorgeous red silk Malcolm Kluk number as well as black lace trousers.

There are bags of clothing left over that Janice, Brooke Fasani and myself are dropping off at the Saartjie Baartman Charity for Abused Women this Thursday. We hope that it makes a small difference to those who need it this Christmas.

If you missed out, we are looking to do another party in February, so look out for the invitations...

Winter Trends

I know that summer has only just arrived, but in the world of fashion it's actually winter! Well, down south it's winter. It's time for the retailers to announce to the fashion editors what they will be rolling out for winter. Here's what's going to be in Truworths:

1. Folk: I love this hippie 70's inspired look, with small floral prints on black backgrounds, light denim, and chunky knits! A must have for winter '09 the floral dress worn with opaque tights and denim jacket!

2. Checks: Checks are the new stripe! Shirts, dresses, jackets, trousers, basically everything that stood still for long enough has been checked. Great for weekend wear.

3. First Lady: Covered button detailing and 60's jackets, you too can look like Jackie O. Look out for the cropped leopard print jacket, it's a winner!

4. Masculine: This trend continues with more of an 80's slant. Team your waistcoats and fitted jackets with pretty frilly floral blouses.

5. The boyfriend: I'm loving this relaxed look. The boyfriend jacket is the updated blazer and a definite must have for the season. Another must is the boyfriend cardi, extra length with pocket detailing.

6. Circus Time: Harlequin prints and loads brass buttons give a nod to the circus trend.
